The present invention relates to a process useful for forming an electroconductive hydrophobic microporous layer (MPL) on the surface of a support comprising at least the steps of: (a) providing a non-aqueous dispersion of carbon particles, (b) forming depositing this dispersion on the surface of a support, (c) drying the deposit formed in step (b) so as to form said microporous layer, and where appropriate, (d) washing said microporous layer obtained at the end of step (c), characterized in that said carbon particles are formulated in said dispersion with at least one polypentafluorostyrene polymer in solution in an organic solvent.
