Provided is a dual-ion battery with a positive-electrode reaction that is an anion insertion–elimination reaction and a negative-electrode reaction that is a metal deposition and dissolution reaction, wherein: a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte are provided; the positive electrode contains a positive-electrode active substance that includes a carbonaceous material; the negative electrode contains a negative-electrode active substance that includes potassium metal or rubidium metal; and the dual-ion battery is capable of charging and discharging at a high voltage.
