A system for handling side loads in a vehicle shall include a crossing element and one or more structures which may be deformable. The transverse element shall be laterally aligned, superimposing a first frame longitudinal support located on the first side of the vehicle and a second frame longitudinal support located on the second side of the vehicle. The structure is mounted on a lateral side of the vehicle, positioned in a longitudinal direction in front of the junction element, positioned on the side outside the first frame and trained to deform in the event of a collision with a low overlap. The structure is trained to:apply lateral force to an end of the crossing element under load to cause lateral displacement of the vehicle. A vehicle may include a structure on either side of the vehicle to cause a lateral displacement of the vehicle away from a colliding rigid barrier.
