The adjuster (1) has seat rails (5, 8) connected to a vehicle structure and a seat structure-rail system and mutually encompassing under formation of a rail profile, where rails are movable relative to each other along a longitudinal direction. A rail locking device locks the rails with each other. An adapter (6) connected to the rail (8) has an upper bar (6b) that is spaced apart from an upper surface (6a) and connected to rail system, and a lower bar (6f) is arranged lateral to the rail (5). The upper surface is formed or connected as a single piece with the upper bar and/or the lower bar.
