AVOIDING RANDOM ACCESS ISSUES IN NON-STANDALONE NEW RADIO CELLS

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for avoiding random access issues in non-standalone new radio cells. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes obtaining a configuration to connect with a secondary cell, wherein the configuration indicates a maximum number of failures for performing a random access (RA) procedure with the secondary cell; performing the maximum number of RA procedures with the secondary cell, wherein each RA procedure fails; and transmitting a message to a primary cell, in response to performing the maximum number of RA procedures with the secondary cell.
