This node device inserts, when signal quality degradation information is obtained, the obtained signal quality degradation information at a position corresponding to a relay path of a signal format of a predetermined layer defined in advance, if a relay path to be relayed by the device exists in paths accommodated in an interface, or inserts, when the signal quality degradation information is obtained, the obtained signal quality degradation information at a predetermined position of a signal format of a layer terminated by a client device, which is included in a protocol stack of an interface to which a client device corresponding to a termination path is connected, if a termination path terminating at the device exists in paths accommodated in the interface. The node device thus inserts, when the client device is connected to the interface, the obtained signal quality degradation information at a position corresponding to the termination path of the signal format of a predetermined layer of the protocol stack of the interface which accommodates the termination path corresponding to the client device.
