METHODS AND MOBILITY MANAGEMENT ENTITY MME FOR RE-DIRECTING A UE TO A DEDICATED CORE NETWORK NODE

A method and a Mobility Management Entity (MME) for redirecting a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to a dedicated core network (CN) node are described. The WTRU is configured to initiate a service request to a non-dedicated network node, for example, an MME. The WTRU is configured to receive a special identifier in response to a service request indicating that the WTRU should be redirected to the dedicated CN node based on the subscription information. Radio access network resources associated with the WTRU may be released, after which the WTRU may perform a tracking area update (TAU) request that is forwarded to the dedicated CN node.
