A reverse thrust swimming device configured to be used in a pool comprising: mounting means configured to be supported around an upper body of a swimmer; anda backward thrust device connected to the mounting device such that the backward thrust device is configured to be centered about the front torso of the swimmer, the backward thrust device configured to provide backward thrust toward and through areas in a water environment each side of a head of the swimmer are adjacent to oppose forward propulsion provided by an arm pull of the swimmer, the backward thrust device further configured to provide a swimmer selectable variable backward thrust, the backward thrust device further configured to provide a backward flow deploy under both legs of the swimmer towards the swimmer's head.
