To provide an image analysis device capable of eliminating influence of luminance change and calculating a feature amount at which an image feature is appropriately reflected with a small load.SOLUTION: This image analysis device is provided with a feature amount calculation part for calculating a feature amount of a local area (K11) of an image. The feature amount calculation part includes a gradient direction calculation part for calculating a gradient direction obtained by eliminating size information from a luminance gradient between each of a plurality of pixels included in the local area (K11) and peripheral pixels, and a distribution calculation part for aggregating a plurality of gradient directions which are respectively calculated in correspondence with the plurality of pixels to calculate a frequency distribution of the gradient directions, and determines the frequency distribution of the gradient directions to be a feature amount of the local area.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
