Forms of a magnetorheological fluid (MRF) joystick system (22) for a working vehicle include a joystick device (52, 54) with a base housing (62),a joystick (60),mounted movably on the base housing (62) and a joystick position sensor (66),which monitors the movement of the joystick relative to the base house (62).An MRF joystick resistance mechanism (56) is controllable to vary a joystick stiffness resistance mechanism of the joystick (60) relative to the base housing (62) to at least one degree of freedom.A control architecture (50) is coupled with the joystick position sensor (66) and with the MRF joystick resistance mechanism (56).The control architecture (50) is configured to: (i) indicate the MRF-Joystick resistance mechanism (56) to increase the joystick stiffness when the joystick (60) is moved into an initial predetermined arrester position,to produce an initial MRF arrest;and (ii) selectively activate a first locking-free function of the working vehicle (20) at least partially on the basis of a joystick movement relative to the first MRF locking.
