Glass unit with electrically controllable optical properties with several independent switching ranges (S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7) comprehensive-a composite disc (100), comprehensivean outer disc (1) and an inner disc (2) connected by a thermoplastic intermediate layer (3); anda PDLC functional element (4) with electrically controllable optical properties, which is located between the outer disc (1) and the inner disc (2); andA control unit (5) suitable for controlling the optical properties of the PDLC function element (4), with the electrically controllable PDLC function element (4) divided into at least two separate function element segments,where each PDLC functional element segment is electrically connected to the control unit (5), so that an electrical voltage can be applied independently to each functional element segment to control the optical properties of each functional element segment.
