The present invention relates to a method for recovering a precious metal from a precious metal-containing waste catalyst, comprising the following steps: (i) at least partially dissolving a precious metal-containing waste catalyst in an alkaline aqueous solution; (ii) filtering to obtain a precious metal-containing filtrate and a precious metal; (iii) treating the filtrate by means of a reducing agent; and (iv) separating the precious metal from the treated filtrate, wherein step (iii) is carried out for 2-4 hours at a pressure of 8-12 bar and a temperature of 190-210 °C. The method of the present invention has a simple process and a high recovery rate, and the separated filtrate contains 1 ppm by weight or less of a precious metal.
