To provide a crane for calculating an accurate load swing cycle and a method of calculating a load swing cycle.SOLUTION: The crane includes a sensor (a gyro sensor 15) detecting the swing of a hook 13 and a control device 20 which is connected to the sensor 15 to recognize the swing of the hook 13. The control device 20 sets the oscillation frequency of the pendulum motion calculated on the basis of the length (the suspension length Lw) from a tip end part of a boom 8 to the hook 13 as a first threshold f1, sets the oscillation frequency of the pendulum motion calculated on the basis of the length Lt from the tip end part of the boom 8 to a cargo W as a second threshold f2, eliminates a frequency band fb larger than the first threshold f1 and the frequency band fb smaller than the second threshold f2 from a frequency band fb of the swing of the hook 13, and estimates a cycle T corresponding to a maximum point in the remaining frequency band fb as a load swing cycle.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
