FIELD: testing.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to mechanical testing of coatings, namely, to methods for determining residual stresses in coatings created by spraying. The method for determining residual stresses in coatings consists in releasing residual stresses by applying three or four radial cuts to the depth of the cross-section thickness of the coating to a cylindrical spray-coated sample, determining the shear adhesive strength of the coating by means of a press by pressing the cylindrical sample through a hole in the matrix, followed by calculating the circumferential residual stresses in the coatings as the difference between the shear adhesive strength of the coating upon being released from residual stresses and the adhesive strength of the coating at the initial level of processing residual stresses.;EFFECT: broader and more accurate information on the characteristics of the coating created by spraying is obtained.;1 cl, 1 dwg
