PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a catalyst component having good particle properties, which can stably produce an ethylene-based polymer having an ultra-high molecular weight component. SOLUTION: A slurry is prepared with a mixing ratio of component A and component B as a weight ratio of component A: component B = 1: 99 to 100: 0, and then the prepared slurry is spray-dried and granulated. A method for producing an ethylene-based polymerization catalyst component, which comprises obtaining granulated particles having an average particle size of 1 μm to 500 μm. Component A: Inorganic oxide having characteristic 1, characteristic 2, and characteristic 3. (Characteristic 1) Contains 90% by weight or more of SiO2. (Characteristic 2) The average particle size is 0.01 μm to 3.0 μm. (Characteristic 3) In the infrared absorption spectrum, the ratio Py / Px of the peak intensity Py maximum in the range Y to the peak intensity Px maximum in the range X is less than 10.
