The present invention relates to novel manganese hydrides, methods for their preparation and their use in hydrogen storage applications. The present invention also relates to a process for preparing manganese dialkyl compounds of high purity and to the use of manganese dialkyl compounds in the manufacture of manganese hydrides having improved hydrogen storage capacity.
