PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing lithium hydroxide for producing a lithium-nickel composite oxide capable of easily obtaining powdery lithium hydroxide suitable for being used as raw material for a lithium metal composite oxide even in mass production on an industrial scale.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing lithium hydroxide for producing a lithium-nickel composite oxide used for producing a lithium-nickel composite oxide by mixing lithium hydroxide with a nickel compound and firing the mixture, the method comprising: a disintegration step where a solidified lithium hydroxide hydrate is disintegrated till the maximum length of the included maximum lumps reaches 200 mm or lower to obtain disintegrated lumps; and a coarse disintegration step where the disintegrated lumps are disintegrated till oversize when the disintegrated lumps are sieved with a sieve having an aperture of 4.75 mm in accordance with JISZ8801-1:2,000 till the oversize reaches 5 mass% or lower of the input to obtain coarse disintegrated powder.SELECTED DRAWING: None
