A hob has a hob plate and heating devices arranged below it, which are part of a structural unit. A receptacle for the structural unit is arranged lower than the hob plate, the structural unit being mounted in and on the receptacle by means of supports. Weight sensors are provided on the supports for measuring a weight load on the supports with movement of the structural unit towards the receptacle. An overload protection device is provided on each support to protect the weight sensors when a limit weight load is exceeded. The overload safety device has a stop stop which stops a movement of the structural unit caused by the weight load towards the receptacle in such a way that the weight sensor does not lie in the material-bonded line of force of the structural unit on the receptacle. The excessive weight then rests on the stop stop.
