A method for automatically producing slabs of conglomerate stone and/or ceramic material having a veined effect from a base mix (M), the method comprising: a) depositing a layer of base mix (M) inside a temporary support (S), b) automatically forming one or more grooves (F) with a predetermined width in the layer of base mix (M) c) automatically distributing at least one dye inside the grooves (F), d) pressing the base mix (M) layer. The at least one dye consists of a coloring mix (C1, C2) comprising at least one binder. The present invention also relates to a robot island (1) for forming a veining in the base mix (M) layer for producing slabs and an apparatus for producing slabs with a veining effect.
