In one aspect, an improved system, method and interface for automated high speed antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST), including a carrier set station comprising a workstation having a graphical user interface (GUI), is disclosed.The GUI receives information from the inspection engineer, including information about the range of trials carried out on the microorganism containing sample.The GUI controls the intelligent assignment of the microorganism containing samples to the test panel by grouping samples of similar test ranges together and testing the samples with the multiple test panels to maximize the utilization of the test carrier.Workflow customization by test ranges to facilitate parallel processing of multiple samples advantageously reduces laboratory waste, reduces testing potential, and increases throughput and efficiency of AST systems Therefore, the cost to the ast laboratory is reduced.
