The invention relates to a metal band as an inlay for decorative, sealing or edge-protection strips, in particular on motor vehicles, the surface being profiled on at least one flat side (4) of the band (1) to increase the adhesion between the metal band and a plastic or rubber coating. These metal bands can also be designed with a plurality of successive openings (2, 8) in the longitudinal direction of the band, in particular slots which are cut and stretched by rolling or punched out.
