Problem to be solved: to provide a functional polyisobutylene (PIB) containing oligomer and a method of producing a polymer and a material produced thereby.By the method of the disclosure, the synthesis of the functional piib containing polymer can be directly accomplished under cationic polymerization conditions, and no post polymerization reaction is included.A desired functional group is introduced by a direct electrophilic aromatic substitution (EAS) reaction using a substituted phenyl ring having a desirable functional group having a weak association with the Ruiz acid but not with the acid.This further allows living polymerization and eas reactions under living cationic polymerization conditions.Functional polyisobutylene or isobutylene containing oligomers and polymers can be prepared using a ratio near the stoichiometry or stoichiometry of the capping or functionalized reagent and the polymer end chain.No selection
