Disclosed are compounds of formula (I) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof: [Formula I] Variables such as R ¹ -R ⁹ , X and Y are defined herein. Certain compounds and salts of formula (I) are active as CMA modulators. The present disclosure provides pharmaceutical compositions containing compounds of formula (I) and methods of treating disorders responsive to CMA modulation.
