Provided herein are methods of treating pain in a patient undergoing a surgical procedure comprising administering meloxicam to the patient prior to initiating the surgical procedure. In some embodiments, the meloxicam is nanocrystalline meloxicam. The disclosure further provides a method of treating pain in a patient in need thereof comprising intravenously administering to the patient meloxicam in combination with acetaminophen and/or gabapentin.
