The invention relates to a system for treating greywater, comprising: – a phyto-purification station (6) along with a first and second tank (9, 11) that are selectively supplied by the station via a three-way solenoid valve (T); – a main tank (12) that is supplied by the first and second tanks (9, 11) via first and second solenoid valves (9c, 11c); – a bacteriological monitoring apparatus (14) for selectively carrying out monitoring of the purified water contained in the first or the second tank (9, 11); – an automatic controller for controlling the operations of: – controlling the three-way solenoid valve (T) in order to supply the first tank (9) and initiate the establishment of monitoring of the water of the second tank (11); – at the end of the time required for the monitoring to be established, transferring the content of the first tank (9) to the main tank (12) or the sanitation network (A) depending on whether the monitoring is favourable or unfavourable; – inverting the roles played by the first and the second tank.
