A method for synthesising magnetite nanoparticles involving the following steps: reacting a solution of sodium dioctyl sulfosuccinate with a solution of iron(II) chloride; stirring the mixture; allowing to stand; separating the precipitate; drying to obtain a dry sample, in the solid state and mainly containing Fe²⁺; obtaining Fe³⁺ in the solid; monitoring the Fe³⁺/Fe²⁺ ratio; and mixing a solution of ammonium hydroxide with the solid when the ratio of Fe³⁺ to Fe²⁺ is equal to 2.
