For the operation of the propulsion system, a variable frequency generator is rotated by means of a gear drive associated with it, a magnetic field is induced in the generator by means of an excitation circuit, electrical energy is generated by the generator and its reception is provided by a compensation circuit, with the help of which the excitation signal is adjusted, the adjusted signal is fed to the excitation circuit with elimination of the influence of the frequency of torsional vibrations of the gear drive on the electrical energy produced by the generator.
