The present invention is an apparatus that returns an elevator to normal operation after the elevator maintenance work is completed and that improves the safety of a maintenance worker performing the maintenance work by preventing the elevator from returning to the normal operation while the maintenance worker is in a tower for the maintenance work. This apparatus comprises: an in-pit maintenance device for maintenance work in a pit; an on-car maintenance device for maintenance work on top of an elevator car; an in-pit-maintenance return device installed at the lowest floor hall, the in-pit-maintenance return device allowing a maintenance worker to change the elevator from maintenance operation to normal operation after completing the maintenance work in the pit and leaving the pit; an on-car-maintenance return device installed at a hall, the on-car-maintenance return device allowing a maintenance worker to change the elevator from the maintenance operation to the normal operation after completing the maintenance work on top of the car and leaving the top of the car; and an on-car-maintenance return device installed in a car, the on-car-maintenance return device allowing a maintenance worker to change the elevator from the maintenance operation to the normal operation in the car.
