The invention concerns a process for the production of a refillable granulate made of tea or tea-like substitutes, with a raw material consisting of tea and/or tea-like substitutes being provided, the raw material being processed into a granulate in a double-screw extruder, the double-screw extruder being a drawing zone, comprises a first compression zone, a relaxation zone and a second compression zone and the raw material is first introduced into the intake zone into the double-screw extruder, then extruded in the first compression zone under pressure of more than five bars,is extruded in the relaxation zone at a pressure of 5 bar or less and extruded in the second compression zone at a pressure of more than 5 bar. The invention also concerns a refillable granulate made from tea or a tea-like substitute and at least one flavouring.
