FIELD: refractory industry.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the refractory industry, namely to the production of fused refractory materials, specifically to the arc decomposition of zircon concentrate and the production of technically pure fused zirconium dioxide, which is used for the production of refractory products and/or for the production of pure zirconium dioxide by washing in acid or alkali. The method includes the preparation of a charge from zircon and a reducing agent, including coke, feeding it to an electric arc furnace, melting the charge and cooling the melt. Initially a melt bath of technically pure zirconium dioxide is prepared in the furnace, and then a zircon charge with a reducing agent is added to it in small portions, which additionally contains sawdust, with the following component ratio: zircon concentrate ZCP - 82-92%, blast furnace coke BFC-2 of 8-1 mm fraction - 6-8%, sawdust of 20-0 mm fraction - 2-10%. The process of melting the charge is carried out in an open arc under oxidizing conditions, and the melt is additionally oxidized by draining it from the furnace into the mould. ;EFFECT: proposed method allows not only decomposing zircon, but also provides conditions for the removal of silicon compounds on the surface of the melt, excluding its contamination with silicon dioxide.;1 cl
