The objective of the present invention is to simplify operation by a user while causing a submarine appliance to operate appropriately.　A submarine cable system (10) according to an embodiment of the present invention is provided with: a submarine appliance (11); a first terminal station device (1) and a second terminal station device which are capable of communicating with the submarine appliance; and a control device (20) which selects one of the first terminal station device (1) and the second terminal station device (2) on the basis of an order of priority, and which instructs the selected one thereof to output a control signal to the submarine appliance (11). The order of priority is based on the distance from the first terminal station device (1) to the submarine appliance (11) and the distance from the second terminal station device (2) to the submarine appliance (11).
