The present invention proposes a video display device capable of compensating for a color reproduction ratio by reflecting a deviation of a decrease in a driving voltage of an image display panel and a method for compensating for a color reproduction ratio. An image display device including a color gamut compensation processing unit according to an embodiment of the present invention analyzes hue, saturation, and luminance characteristics of image data, and the degree of saturation change for each color tone according to the change in luminance characteristics. By detecting and compensating for the saturation change characteristic, it is possible to prevent the image quality from deteriorating due to the deviation of the decrease in driving voltage. In addition, according to the present invention, the color reproduction ratio can be further improved and user satisfaction can be increased by additionally correcting the saturation correction gain value for each color tone according to the luminance characteristic and saturation characteristic of the input image data and applying it to the saturation correction parameter.
