Kilns.-A kiln used for first drying and then burning bricks has two rows of chambers R separated by a main flue A and connected by openings C. When a chamber is to be used for drying bricks the openings C are closed and the bricks in the chamber are dried by air heated by being drawn through a pipe J under the kiln floor and then passing into the chamber by branch pipes B. Hot air can also pass into the chambers through branch pipes N connected to the main flue A.
