Fruit, gathering.-In a machine for picking up apples, pears, &c., a series of rollers 10 with spikes 11 are carried by levers 8, pivoted on the axis 4 of the bearing-wheels. The fruit is removed from the spikes by metal tongues 12, and passes into a receptacle 13. A fan 15, driven by chain or other gear from the axis 4, serves to blow away leaves &c. raised by the spikes. The rollers can be raised by the bar 24 passing under the levers 8 and attached to the lever 23. The machine may be arranged for horse-power, the shafts being placed at one side.
