In a fruit grading machine of the diverging conveyer belt type, the upper parts 4, 41 of the belts are formed of soft resilient material, such as sponge rubber, with inwardly facing downwardly sloping sides 5, 51 to support the fruit, and the lower parts 1, 11 of the belts are formed of harder material, such as leather or canvas, to define the grading aperture. The upper parts 4, 41 of the belts may comprise strips which are glued to the lower belt parts 1, 11.
