Lawns, sweeping; lawnmowers.-A machine for removing worm casts, cut grass, leaves, and the like from lawns, golf greens, tennis s lawns, garden walks, footpaths, and carriage ways consists essentially of an adjustable rotary brush and an adjustable collecting-box. Fig. 1 is a side view of the apparatus. The bearings of the brush or brushes 1 are adjustable vertically in the guides 3 by means of screws 5. The brush is driven by a chain from the axle 9 of the drums or rollers 10, the tension of the chain being regulated by adjusting the axle 9 in slots in the side frames 4 by means of set-screws 9A. One end of the box 12 is provided with holes, into which fit pins carried by an adjustable slotted bracket 13. The other end is provided with a slot 15, in which is fixed an adjustable pin 16 engaging with a hook 17 hanging from a transverse shaft 18. The hook 17 is provided with a handle 20 to facilitate the removal of the box, which is steadied by an adjustable frame 19. The side frames 4 are provided with wheels or rollers 11, and with handles like those of a lawn-mower. The brush may be arranged at an angle to the collecting-box, and its bristles may be set in straight or waved lines. A rotary cutter, with or without a grass box, may be mounted in the frame, its driving-chain being placed on the opposite side of the machine to that of the brush.
