Improvements in the production of tennis-courts, bowling-greens, putting-greens for golf and ground surfaces for similar other purposes

Tennis courts, bowling greens, and like ground surfaces are made by applying a composition of bitumen, stearine pitch, and shredded, ground, or granulated rubber, e.g. shredded old tyres, to a foundation surface of concrete or the like. The composition may also contain coal tar pitch. In a modification, instead of mixing the rubber with the bitumenous materials, a layer of bitumen and stearine pitch is first spread over the concrete surface, then a layer of granulated rubber is applied, and finally a covering of bitumen and stearine pitch. In another modification, the concrete is first covered with a thin layer of coal tar pitch, then a layer of bitumen and stearine pitch is applied and finally shredded or granulated rubber. In an example, a composition comprises two parts of coal tar pitch, two parts of stearine pitch, two parts of bitumen, and one part of shredded &c. rubber.
