A long band of paper o having the required matter thereon is wound, by means of milled buttons n, between rollers j and over two hinged tables e fixed to the side bars f by lugs g which rest in recesses formed in the upper edges of the side plates a, b. The paper, which has its ends thickened either by folding or by fixing strips of suitable material thereto, is passed through slots k in the roller j which are prevented from unwinding by means of a spring l bearing against their ends and fixed to the side plate a. Rollers i are mounted on the side bars f, and the tables are raised and lowered by the aid of projections s. The appliance is enclosed in a case made of any suitable material, such as that used in bookbinding, and formed with side apertures which allow the buttons n to project therethrough, the latter being removed while the appliance is being inserted. A single table hinged at one end only may be employed, or the table may be fixed, in which case the drums are arranged near the ends of the side frames.
