Yarns,drying &c.-During the treatment, after washing, of printed yarns to be used in making tapestry, tapestry velvet carpet, table covers, and similar printed fabrics, the hanks of yarn are dried under tension, to prevent variation in the amount of shrinking of the different yarns and consequent throwing out of match of the pattern and also to allow the use of longer settings. The hanks are placed on horizontal bars a, a', Figs. 1 and 2, supported by hooked brackets b, b2. The brackets b2 are then adjusted, to vary the tension on the yarn, either before or during the process of drying, by turning the screwed shaft c3 having a toothed wheel c2 thereon, which gears with the internally-screwed wheels c, thus traversing the screws e. The middle or sagging portions of the hanks are supported by a woven wire fabric g, stretched between the bars f. Both brackets b, b' may be made adjustable.
