Elevated railways. - Relates to an overhead travelling hoist or jenny for electric or other power with or without lifting - apparatus, and consists in constructing the traveller so that it may be guided at junctions without movable points. Fig. 2 shows a pair of bogies c, c' for supporting a hoist. The travelling wheels d run on the bottom flange of the joist a, and for use in passing junctions, auxiliary wheels d' are mounted on the axle e. Fig. 1 shows the traek with the carriage passing a junction. The joists a, b are cut away to allow the frame to pass round the curve, and the portions a1 are thickened underneath. The auxiliary rails f, f1 of channel section serve to support the outer wheels d' when the inner wheels d are passing a gap. Fig. 5 shows an arrangement for guiding the carriage at a junction. A lever g controlled by the operator actuates the rollers h, h1 adapted to bear on the side beams f, f1. When the carriage passes a junction, one or other of the rollers h is lifted, and the carriage is steered into one or other of the two directions. The invention is stated to be applicable to travelling carriages in general.
