Centrifugal governors; transmitting-mechanism.-A generator is regulated simultaneously with the prime-mover in accordance with the load, which may consist of a number of motors or lamps. This is effected by an arm oscillated by the governor o the engine actuatiug the regulating- switch of the driven dynamo by means of wire cords when the governor actuates the steam valve. The governor a on the crank shaft p has a sliding sleeve controlled by levers a', and the pivoted lever b works in an annular groove on the sleeve. The lever b is connected to the arm d' on a sleeve e by a rod c, so that movements of the governor cause the sleeve e to oscillate. The sleeve e is controlled by a tension spring q and is provided with two other arms d', d3, the former being connected to the steam valve i by levers g, h, the latter d' being attached to the oscillating arm j. This arm carries two stretching screws k, k1, to which are fastened the switch-operating wires, which pass over guide-pulleys l. l1 to the switch wheel m. The wires pass round the wheel m in two opposite screw-threads, and slots o are made in the wheel to permit adjustment of the contactarm n over the contacts n1. When the governor sleeve moves the lever b, the sleeve e actuates the steam valve i by the lever g, and at the same time actuates the regulating-switch m by the oscillating armj.
