12,166. Jacob, T. S. May 27. Furniture, fixing to floors and the like. - An anchorstay or grip for securing tables, chairs, pianos, and other furniture to the deck of a vessel, the floor of a theatre, &c., is shown in Fig. 7, being described in connexion with a table. The slotted cylinder B is attached to the underside of the table, and an inverted cup C provided with a slot and eye is secured to the floor. The parts B, C are connected by two rods, each provided with a stud at one end and a screw-thread at the other, and being capable of being put into tension by a reducing-nut F. A screwed socket G protects and strengthens the cylinder B, and securely retains the stud D in position. When the stay is applied to a chair, the nut F is omitted and the rods are brought into tension by a reducing-socket H, Fig. 10, the part J of which is suspended by wires fastened to the side rails of the chair by plates K, Fig. 11. In the case of easy chairs and sofas, the central upright is omitted, and a short stump N, Fig. 4, is employed instead. This piece N is bored to receive wires fastened to the side rails of the chair by plates K, Fig. 11, or by ball-and-socket nuts M, Fig. 3.
