摘要
9726. Weiss, R. May 5. Estimating uric acid. -The amount of urine required to fix a known quantity of iodine is used to determine the amount of uric acid present. An indicator, such as carbon bisulphide or chloroform, is used to indicate the complete fixation of iodine. The estimation is carried out in a graduated testtube. Carbon bisulphide is run in up to the first graduation, and the tube is filled to the second mark with a standard solution of iodine. Successive additions of urine are then made until all the iodine is fixed, the mixture being well shaken after each addition. The amount of urine added is read off on a further series of graduations, arranged so as to give directly the amounts of uric acid in parts per thousand.
