Dolls.-Doll bodies, lay-figure stands, &c. are formed by a series of solid disks d, which are connected at the edges by a covering consisting of a thick inner material i, such as serge &c., and a thin outer material h, such as silk or stockinet, the whole being collapsible in the manner of a concertina. The disks are spaced in the extended position by knotted cords e or ladder tapes passing through the disks, and the whole is supported by a sectional pillar a, which passes through apertures in the disks so shaped as to prevent rotation, and to which a top plate c may be secured by a spring catch j. A yoke piece k having a loop k2 for engaging the pillar may be employed to raise the figure and secure it in the expanded position. Moulded shells g may be utilized for the neck, shoulders, &c. or the edges of the disks at these parts may be thickened to avoid a ribbed effect of the figure. Limbs &c. of a similar or other construction may be attached. According to the Provisional Specification, the rod may be horizontal and the disks vertical.
