Motor road vehicles. - Relates t o detachable shields for the protection of the hands and feet of the drivers of motor - vehicles &c. as described in Specification No. 19,980, A.D. 1907, and comprises means for folding or collapsing the shield and for adjusting it to suit different sizes of hand-wheels. The shield B is attached by a fork to an arm C clipped to the steering-column at T. A waterproof covering is fixed to the shield by means of ribs E, F, and an apron B' depends from the shield for the protection of the driver's feet. An opening D, filled with transparent material such as mica, serves for inspection of the levers, the whole covering being made of transparent material if desired. To detachably connect the end of the arm C with the shield, the arm C has plates formed on it having holes to receive a rod or rods attached to the shield, or lugs may be soldered or welded on the shield and pierced with holes to engage rods attached to the arm C. Hinged stays K are also provided having their lower ends engaging slots in plates carried by the arm C. Fig. 2 shows the arm C carrying a plate M to which a single rod is attached, the frame of the shield being hinged to this rod at L for the purpose of adapting it to suit different sized hand-wheels. Instead of being attached to the steering- column, the shield may be fixed to the oil tank or other suitable part.
