Seats.-Relates to an improved shield of the type described in Specifications No. 19,980, A.D. 1907, for the protection of the hands and feet of drivers of motor vehicles &c. The steering- pillar I, Fig. 3, carries a clip T, above and below which are other clips attached to an arm C which carries at its upper end a fork A, Fig. 5. Fitting on to the fork A is a framework formed of members B, D, E, F, engaging the fork by means of holes in the frame. If desired, a plate having lugs with holes in them to receive the fork A may be riveted to the frame. If the steering-pillar rotates, the clips have sufficient clearance to allow the pillar to rotate freely, and stops formed on the central clip T prevent the shield from swinging round accidentally. The shield may be held by cords, or it could be fixed to an iron rod screwed to the floor or may be fixed to the underside of the steering-wheel. A waterproof covering to protect the feet is suitably fastened round the edge of the frame, and is extended upwards to cover the top of the frame. The top of the shield has a portion D made of transparent material.
