Device for Cleaning and Lubricating Gun Barrels.

Cleaning; lubricating. - Consists of a hollow cylindrical plunger fitting the barrel and containing lubricant which, when desired, can be forced out through fine holes in the cylinder and distributed on the barrel. Part of the cylinder is covered with cleaning-material. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the cylinder a, partly covered with cleaning - material d, is provided with a piston b, the rod o of which is fixed to the end of the usual cleaning- rod. The piston is fixed, during the cleaning operation, by a spring catch m, Figs. 1 and 3, which engages a hole n in the pistonrod o. When, however, the catch is released and the cleaning-rod is thrust into the barrel, the piston b forces the lubricant out through the holes c. A detachable annular brush h, or a ring of india-rubber, is provided above the holes to distribute the lubricant evenly.
