1746. McDonald, G. Jan. 22. Necktie-retainers. -Relates to necktie retainers adapted to be used with double collars of different heights. One form of the invention consists of a frame made of a single piece of wire, Fig. 6, the lower portion 16 being formed to fit on the collar-stud, upwardlydiverging loops 12, 12a being designed to engage between the folds of the collar, and a coiled spring 11, into which the ends of the wire protrude, connecting the lower ends of the loops. The necktie is tied around the spring 11. The lower part of the frame may be bent to form lateral extensions for a bow-tie. Fig. 7 shows a modified form in which the device comprises two parts made of wire, pivotally connected by the spring 11. and suitably bent to form the stud-grip 16, loops 12, 12a, and, if desired, extensions 14, 14a. The device may be constructed of two flat plates of metal pivoted together and connected by a coiled wire spring.
