3319. Bates, A., Cridland, E A., and British United Shoe Machinery Co. Feb. 9. Turnshoes, machines for; sole levelling.-To hold a shoe firmly on the jack of the machine for reforming turnshoes described in Specification 11,880/08, a strap G attached at its ends to a fork H is adapted to be passed over the waist of the shoe. The fork has a hollow shank I, which is yieldingly connected through an adjustable spring plunger K with a treadle L. The treadle L, which is pivoted on the frame A, has pivoted on it a second treadle M, which carries a face M3 adapted to engage under a stop N on the frame when the treadle L is depressed. The lever L is then locked and the strap G held tightly across the waist of the shoe. To release the strap, the treadle M is depressed against the pressure of a spring M2, a spring O then lifting the treadle L and the sbank I. The device may be used for holding, or for holding and moulding, the waist of a shoe while being opeiated upon in a levelling-machine.
