Levelling. - In a machine for levelling the bottoms of boots and shoes, in which a co-operating jack and form apply pressure in sequence to different parts of the shoe bottom as described in Specification 14,567/10, the form is so mounted that the pressure varies at different parts of the shoe bottom. The form D' is carried by a lever G, on which it may be adjusted by screws D2, G3. The lever is fulcrumed to the machine frame at G4, a spring G5 being interposed between the lower part G6 of the lever G and a fixed abutment A1. The end D4 of the form which engages the heel part of the boot &c. is thus nearer the fulcrum than the end D5 bearing against the toe part, and thus the heel part is subjected to a greater pressure. The spring G5 is adjusted by a screw G'.
